Overview
Bringing Coquitlam Public Library’s mission to life through a dynamic new identity that sparks curiosity, fosters community, and celebrates a love of learning.
Challenge
Coquitlam Public Library’s existing logo failed to communicate its core values of inclusion, vibrancy, and community engagement. The challenge was to craft a visual identity that represented the library’s dynamic, welcoming nature while aligning with its mission to be a space that nurtures discovery and shared experiences.
Approach
The approach began with an immersive discovery process, which included a “reverse brief” journey. This involved listening closely to the library’s vision and synthesizing its core values: inclusivity, community, and curiosity. The focus was on creating a logo that would be bold, inviting, and warm—something that would resonate with the diverse people the library serves. The design process included exploring a variety of ideas, refining concepts, and ultimately focusing on a simplified, nature-inspired design that told the library's story through color and form.
Impact
The design not only strengthens the library’s connection with its community but also elevates its presence as a forward-thinking, inclusive space. The new logo aligns with the library’s mission and reinforcing its role as a cornerstone of the local community.
Value-add
Over the course of the Larkin rebrand project, I brought a dynamic blend of creativity and strategic design to elevate their brand identity. I meticulously refined the brand guidelines, ensuring a cohesive and modern aesthetic by fine-tuning elements such as the color palette, typography, and overall visual direction. Building on this foundation, I designed the new webpages to serve as a vibrant digital hub, seamlessly extending the refreshed look and feel across all assets. From Google Decks and PDFs to banners, reports, online portal and custom illustrations.
Every touchpoint was thoughtfully aligned to maintain consistency and impact.
